This is great for a bunch of reasons. Firstly, look how many people came! Thats way more than UK events have managed to gather. For how long fingerboarding has been world wide known there, compared to us here in the UK being almost pioneering with some things back in the day (arctic anyone?), and how many people turn up to what little ever happens in the UK (meetups, basically), its amazing what they accomplished. It looks like they had soo much fun, loads of stuff going on, and, yea. Huge props to everyone who went, going to events is one of the things that keeps fingerboarding alive, and gives it the spirit that it has today. Secondly, it was held in a skatepark, which is awesome, I mean, that'd never happen here.. I hear abroad lots of great stuff happening between skateboarding and fingerboarding. You probably know I'm sponsored by panic, well, on a side note, panic decks are going to be distributed in a skateshop! Which is awesome. But events in skateparks, it shows a great unity between fingerboarding and skateboarding, and people just having fun. I'm sure some of the people at that event are just skaters who felt like trying fingerboarding, and I'm sure they had a great time.
Whether you're in the UK, America, or anywhere in the world, make events! Make stuff happen! You'll promote fingerboarding, see friends, make new friends, and more importantly, have a great time! And thats why we do it :) It doesn't have to be a huge event. You don't need it sponsored by brr + flatface. You just need to do something, and have fun with it. Thats clearly what they did in the Philippines. And it clearly paid off, because now they've just had a great event that looked loads of fun, thats had sponsors and a big turnout.
Mad props to the Philippines scene for doing this. Now, go start a revolution in your own country/area :)
