I'm soo stoked on this because I helped (albeit only a teeny bit, was well busy during the production of this) contribute towards this magazine. Its great seeing it finally made! The main matermind behind it is Bobbysmokes, the owner of 4 Corner Fingerboards. Hes a great guy and put a lot of work into this issue! Its just a small first issue, issue 0.5, but it looks like its gonna be a great read nonetheless!
I know today is the internet world. Everything news wise happens on forums and blogs (hell, you're reading a blog, although I like to think we offer a fair bit more here, but it proves the point) and people might not see the point of magazines. Or I'm sure a lot of people see this and think 'bah there's already fb magazine, copy!'. But, not to be rude but its been what, almost a year since issue 1 of fb magazine? And much more importantly, how many skateboard mags out there? I mean, personally, sidewalk all the way, UK represent, but transworld, the skateboard mag, thrasher, kingpin (is that still round? Not sure), all great magazines. The more diversity of fingerboarding we show by doing things like this the more it seems something worth while to people who know nothing about it. The more they'll see a magazine and be fascinated by it. And for all of us who already love fingerboarding, I don't know if you read fb magazine, but how great was that feeling reading it? Like, fingerboarding is getting THIS big that I'm sat on my bed reading a magazine about it? Awesome. Inspiring as well. 5 ply isn't going to have pages so crisp that you could cook your dinner on them and they'd be fine afterward, but its still gonna have amazing content. Especially if we all support it. I know next issue I'm going to get unite, the UK scene, and myself 100% behind this magazine, and try to contribute as much content as I can.
This is a great step for fingerboarding, what ever way you look at it. Pick up a copy of 5 ply at 4cfb, there's only a limited run, and you'll help support the project so the first main issue can be amazing, and something everyone will want to get a hold of.
Lastly, huge props to everyone who made this magazine possible :)
