Crossed Fingers Recap

Firstly I just wanted to say I'm back, I just posted a recap of the weekend in posts (no thanks to youtube) and all will be back to normal with unite and fingersized tomorrow. But now..

THE BIGGEST THANKYOU to everyone who turned up and everyone who sponsored Crossed Fingers. I have soo many stories to tell, I guess you've all heard how the parks were made so after that, trials of getting parks shoved into cars, last minute DIY work, and a whole lot of stress and traffic meant we didn't open until 10:30 rather than 10. Despite being half an hour late when things started it was amazing, and probably one of the best days of my life. I'd never taken on an event before, and it wasn't until the night before that I got super stressed and as per things like this, a ton of things go wrong last minute. But what you've always got to remember is that regardless of that, on the day once things are going, they just smooth down and everything is fine.

A rad room with some tables to chill at, 4 parks, and a whole lot of free soft drinks meant everyone was happy. Raffles started and half of the sponsor prizes went away free, I made sure everyone went home with something sick. The competition was full of amazing talent, and soo many riders blew me away with their runs, or in the second round where only 2 people didn't land all their 3 tricks (4 tries, 3 tricks was the game) - amazing consistency! After a crazy final with 6 mindblowing riders the £100 went to Elliot (I forget your surname, sorry!), who totally destroyed the qualifiers with a 2nd try front foot impossible opposite foot 1 foot 5-0 to 5-0 hardflip revert out. Don't worry, there's video of that! The final standings were:

6th - Billy M
5th - Thom M
4th - Tom C
3rd - Eddie S
2nd - Harry Y
1st - Elliot

The whole gang! (people left before this unfortunately :( )

First few people as the event just opened seshing on the parks.

The 6 finalists.

Elliot enjoying his £100 prize!

I just want to thank again everyone who came, and the sponsors, for making this such a good day. There will definitely be more, and it'll be an even bigger and better event next year. I'll see you all there - and expect a video soon!

One last big thankyou to Billy, Ross, Thom, Eddie, Xi, Danny, Tom, Callum, Harry, Hugo, Rafi, Big Tom (and his 'plus 1'), and Georgie for helping set up/pack away/making this event go smoothly and being great friends and making this weekend the mindblowingly fun time that it was! Definitely a case of defining what fingerboarding is about. I'm down £200 from organising the event, but for how well it went, how great the turnout was, and how much we all enjoyed it, I'd have paid twice that :)
