Crossed Fingers - Park Building Diary: Day 3 - FINISHED!

Somehow, I made it. 3 parks, 3 days. Completely finished. I feel like back as a kid when 'changing rooms' used to be on tv and they'd somehow manage to make over the room in two days and were always like 'dammmn how did we do that?'. I'm quite proud right now, and veryyyyyy relieved.

So from the start? Today after doing unite work, fingersized orders, taking a trip to the post office, and the local yet expensive DIY shop on the way back (when all you're buying is 1 drill bit the price doesn't differ that much), I finally started work at 11:00. Drilling holes, making frames, and the first moment of 'are these going to hold parks? I was quite anxious because if it wouldn't work, I'd have been screwed and need to design something else. BUT, luck was on my side for the first time, and my replica of BRR's method of making bases for parks worked perfectly! Thankyou many many times of hanging around BRR and helping them set up parks for teaching me that, haha..

So after getting all the frames done, I set about the last of the cutting - making handrails! Each park got a handrail, and whilst they're only wood believe you me, I've tried them and they slide super nice. Then it was the fun task of cleaning up, so after getting everything out of my front room (which had been my 'workshop') I had to hoover up all the sawdust/etc created by all my work. Not an easy task.

However, after this I got the parks back together and set about building quarterpipes, little carboard lips for some banks, and then painting the whole lot. After the long job of painting the championship park I thought I was way behind schedule and wouldn't make it, but thankfully the other two parks were much quicker and easier to work on, and I finished at 11:15pm. A whole lot of painting, and whole lot of almost running out of paint and actually running out of masking tape - but I did it. Enjoy some pictures now!

Getting the frames up successfully, and the first handrail made.

Cleaning! Before, and after.

Building the spine on the championship park.

And the parks..
