Radramps Oldschool Review

So, Conrad from Radramps was nice enough to make this deck for me for free, as a gift because he really likes unitefingerboarding. Which is awesome to be quite honest, but not as awesome as this deck! I've used it a lot recently, so here's my review! First, some pictures, I set it up with BRR 2.0s, Winkler Wheels, TKYs, and Capital Griptape.

Shipping took 3 weeks or so, but it was over the christmas holidays, and international shipping is always ridiculously slow over that time. Conrad shipped it quickly though, and it came nicely packaged in a bubble mailer and arrived in perfect condition. 10/10

First impressions of this deck were being literally amazed by how nice it looked! Split plies have been done by almost everyone now, but if there's one company who can always nail them - its Radramps. The UK flag split is absolutely amazing! The other plies were nice too, the shape looked awesome, and overall I couldn't spot a flaw with it. 10/10

Craftsmanship
of this deck is really nice. Regardless of the split plies, the shape is amazingly defined throughout, really well pressed, which is really impressive for the shape of the deck. The rounding on the edges and kicks are perfect as well, and make for a really nice looking deck. Spot on holes with nice countersinks too? All you'd expect from a professional deck. The only thing I did notice was that there were two tiny tiny chips, that you could barely see, on the bottom ply from some of the intricate splits. Still, you could barely see it. 9.5/10

Performance
of this deck is what really blew me away. I'd expect from a deck that's an oldschool, it'd be hard to do non oldschool tricks on it - but oh no. Not here, Radramps oldschool decks are this magical mix of oldschool and new school - just enough kicks on both ends to be able to easily do all tricks, but still a really nice oldschool shape that makes pool riding soo much fun. The concave at first put me off, but somehow it being really deep works really well, probably something to do with the width. Its like 35mm wide, which might seem a little crazy, but it really works here. Finding a deck I can do oldschool on, and then instantly cruise into a perfect kickflip nosegrind.. Impressive is about the only word I can come up with. However, as much as I like wider decks these days, around 32mm, I think a 35 is a little bit too wide for a main. Yet somehow it doesn't really feel too wide, and I could get all my tricks down on it. I did find that very occasionally tricks like nollie flips rotated a bit because of the width of the deck, but then its not entirely designed for nollie flips anyway. 9.5/10

Overall
these decks are something everyone should try. A totally unique experience riding one of these, at first you'll think its too deep, too wide, and a bit silly. But give it five minutes and you'll fall in love with it and realise why its one of the best decks out there, definitely in the league of oldschool decks. Amazing pop, craftsmanship, and the ability to use it as a main if you want? These are well worth the money. Perhaps I wouldn't recommend them over a normal shaped board if you're just after something wide - but those wanting a really fun deck? Look no further. 9.5/10

You can pick these up when they're in stock on the Radramps site here :)
