King Size Review

Some of you probably remember my post a while ago on a King Size deck I got to review. Well, I've finally used it enough, put it through its paces so to speak, and so here is the review! Here are some pictures of the deck, a close up picture of the wear (or lack thereof) from slides/etc, and a side picture for you to see the shape.

Shipping took a week from Germany to UK, which is fantastic, especially since post here is still recovering from christmas it seems! It came in a bubble mailer all nicely wrapped up, and it was perfect when it arrived. 10/10

First impressions of the deck were how amazingly nice the bottom ply was, and what a nice shape it had! Its a really nice shape, medium kicks with low, flowing concave, and good dips. Its a 4 ply deck, which I found interesting, I'm not sure why its a 4 ply, as the plys are nice and thin, so a 5 ply could have easily been done. Makes for a nice light deck though! All the plies were really nice, colourful middle to match the beautiful yellow bottom. I did think the kicks could have been a bit more rounded, but, yea, overall, great looking deck. 9.5/10

Craftsmanship of the deck is pretty much spot on, the deck is shaped nicely, rounded nicely around the edges, it was nice and thin whilst being crisp and strong, and the holes looked drilled very nicely. I did have one slight issue setting it up that one truck hole wouldn't go on, but all 7 other screws went in fine, so that didn't make a difference to be honest. I mean, its something you'd like to avoid with a deck if possible, but if I can get 7 screws in and its overall a solid deck, I'm not complaining at all. The kicks were the only other main issue I had, and this is only an aesthetic issue, but they weren't rounded that well. I mean, some decks, like g12s, have more 'pointy' kicks (not that they're actual points, but you get what I mean) than other decks but I think these were beyond just not being as pointy as other decks, they actually needed to be done more. Again, thats only really aesthetic, but I did notice it a fair bit. 9/10

Performance of this deck is pretty amazing. For a deck I'd never tried, it has a really nice flow to it, pops really nicely, is really light (its a 4 ply deck, so thats to be expected), and, yea, I can barely fault it. Its not entirely my preference, being that its around a BW09 length, and I prefer g12 length decks, and also it was around 31mm, so just a teeny bit wider than I'd like, 30 is for me. I can pull out all my tricks on it pretty easily, and despite the difference in length and width its a really nice deck for me to use, really enjoyable to just pick up and flow into some sick stuff almost as effortlessly for me as using my main setup, a panic with brrs and substance wheels. As you'll see in the close up picture, the lacquer scratched away the teeniest bit on a rail, but I do mean the teeniest bit, overall its really strong and shiny lacquer, which stayed smooth even with the practically unnoticeable scratches, so kept grinds and slides nice and buttery. Overall, I was beyond surprised with how good this deck is, for a company I'd not heard of until recently. 9/10

Overall this deck is pretty much perfect, just two tiny issues, the one hole that didn't screw in, and the kicks needing more rounding. One might argue the rounder kicks made tailslides easier to catch, but I didn't enjoy them overall as much as more rounded kicks. The shape is great and flows nicely, I think a lot of people will really enjoy using it. Great pop, great control, fantastically made deck, so, yea, its hard to fault this deck. If you want a new deck, I'd really recommend picking up one of these, and I hope with this review they'll start to get more popular out of Germany, and get worldwide recognition! They definitely deserve it. If the few tiny issues I had are resolved this would basically be a flawless deck. Great stuff! 8.9/10
