Krispy Deck Review

It's always fun to try a deck from a new company, and this certainly had a lot of promise behind it. Did it live up to that? Well, read on! Pictures first, I set this up with BRTs, Winklers, and China Tape.

Shipping was fairly good, around a week US to UK, and it arrived nicely packaged in perfect condition. 10/10.

First impressions
were both great and bad. I loved the look of the deck, the shape looked amazing; but I could tell straight away the lacquer was terrible as it had imprints of the bubble wrap it was packaged in in the lacquer, as well as a strong smell of lacquer. Still, it's worth pointing out it otherwise did look really nice, such a beautiful yet simple look. 7.5/10

Craftsmanship
is obviously let down by the lacquer, which is slightly 'crystally' in places (for lack of a better word) as well as having needed a lot more time to dry before it was posted. On the other hand, it's nicely rounded and shaped with perfect holes, so setup was also effortless and made riding the deck straight away a breeze. However there's one more down side, that is the deck seems a flex a lot more than it should, which I'll get into more in the next section. 7.5/10

Performance
of this deck is unfortunately not brilliant. It's nice, and being a 33mm deck it's super fun and has a lot of control - infact if you rode this purely in a miniramp you'd never notice any of its flaws. However take it to a more street setting and the flex I mentioned before lets it down, it just doesn't have much pop. You can get used to it, and once you are tricks go down easy, but it's not the shape that's letting it down, the deck just needs to be crisper and more solid. It is useable most definitely, and there's a lot of potential, I just had a hard time getting flips up anything but small obstacles. On a plus side, the lacquer, whilst not looking amazing, seems to hold up quite well and only got a few marks from grinds. 7/10

Overall
this deck is bursting with potential. Amazing shape? Check. Great rounding, shaping, holes, and that sort of thing? Check. However terrible lacquer, and a deck that needs some rethinking in the pressing process and perhaps a new glue to make it crisper hold it's score back. Thing is these could be solved, and once they are I'd be really enthusiastic about these as I loved the shape and a lot of other things about this - but right now there's better you can spend your money on, I'd only recommend picking one up if you want a project to turn a deck into a pool deck (as 33mms make for excellent pool decks). Hopefully these issues can be fixed and these decks will be worth picking up! 7.5/10
