Tech Deck US Championships 2011

So, Tech Deck have been stepping up their game a lot recently and working to be a part of the community, and actually recognising 'proper' fingerboarding. This huge series of events is gonna be a great thing for the US, check this out!

To summarise, there will be 10 qualifier competitions held in cities all over the US. The winners of each not only get a chance to be on the tech deck team, but get to go through to the final, where they'll compete against each other for the grand prize of $5000! $2000 for second place and $1000 for third. Thats pretty amazing stuff! All the events are going down at big skateboarding events, which is rad and will hopefully grow some positive vibes between skateboarding and fingerboarding, especially when people see there is more than just plastic decks and people are doing it properly and seriously.

What is even more great about this is that FFI's own Denny Politan is going to be an event organiser/main judge for the events! So not only is that rad for him, but it makes sure that the events stay true to 'proper' fingerboarding and there's no bias going on towards tech deck stuff. Not that I think that'd happen, but, its great to have a representative there who fully knows what true fingerboarding is about and has been doing it for a long time. Few others would be as suited to the job I think! We'll be having some write ups from him posted on the site after every step of the tour, so look forward to that, I cant wait to read them myself!

To get even closer to all the action, you should add/follow/etc Denny Politan on facebook, youtube, and twitter, as there will be live updates there throughout the event period. Just search for him on those sites and you'll find him!

For now go check out the tech deck site with info on the event locations, and the official rules/competition format here :)
