So, I got some stuff for free to review from Mitt a while ago as you may remember, it was awesome of them not only to send a deck for free, but to give me an awesome picnic table! I've used both a fair amount, so, here's the review. I'll start with the deck.
Mitt GV Deck
Shipping took just a few days, as it came from the UK. They have someone distributing their products in the UK now, so far as I'm aware. I think its just someone who's a part of mitt, and, yea, I'm not totally sure on the details, but, regardless, shipping was really good. It came wrapped up nicely in a box and everything was in great condition as it arrived. 10/10.
First Impressions of the deck were that it was, well, a crazy shape. As you can see from the pictures above, its a rather hardcore shape, not something I'm at all used to. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it just means that it wasn't my preference. Also, its tech deck dimensions, 26x96mm, so, that was a bit off putting too. However the rounding and holes looked spot on, and the lacquer was nice and shiny. The bottom ply was really nice as well, I believe the wood is called wenge? It looked fantastic, really pretty. Its a shame the shape being so hardcore ruined the first impression of the deck a bit. 8/10
Craftsmanship is perfect on this deck. The holes are perfect, I hear they're done by a machine and you can tell, putting the trucks on this deck was effortless, as good as any top name deck. Rounding was also really nice, and the shape was 100% even the whole way around the deck. 10/10
Performance wise, its an interesting deck to use. Being shorter, thinner, and deeper than anything I've ever used, it took some getting used to. But, that said, it actually has a lot of pop, and didn't take long to be able to do most tricks on it easily, which surprised me for the differences between it, and my current main deck, a Flatface g12. The lacquer didn't stay when used on rails as much as some top brand decks, but it didn't wear of badly. The odd patch of worn lacquer, but some people like that sort of thing, saying it adds to the realism of the deck. And thats only an aesthetic issue, the deck still has amazing pop. 9/10
Overall, its one of the most interesting decks I've used, because of the shape, but, its really not for me. I cant say anything wrong with how its made, and its lasted and performed well for what it is. But I don't see anyone really using that shape. Thankfully, Mitt have a whole range of shapes, so, you could get a more mellow shape, and it'd be a lot more useable deck. Also, they do 'wide' decks, that are 28mm wide, so no issues with the width either. So, basically, great deck, just, I'd recommend getting a wider and mellower shaped deck from Mitt. For a company that doesn't get talked about much these days, after having used one of their decks, I can only guess their lack of a presence on forums and in the 'scene' so to speak is the only thing stopping a lot more people seeing and using their decks. They perform fantastically, and I would 100% recommend them. Its only this particular deck's shape that lets it down a bit. 8.5/10
Mitt Picnic Table
I'm not really sure how to go about reviewing a ramp.. The craftsmanship is really nice, all the parts fit together perfectly and its a really sturdy construction. The wood slides nicely and there's no marks from nails sticking out or anything, which is really good. The flat coping is a little harsh on lacquer, it could do with being a bit smoother. The round coping is nice though, and its nice that you get both options on the table, makes it more of a diverse obstacle.
I think these you have to construct yourself, but, mine came pre made. The construction looks really simple though, and, it saves on shipping costs, so I think its a good idea! I'm sure if you brought one and made it up it'd turn out just like mine, so, overall, I'd say its a great ramp. 9/10
