Blackriver-Ramps Skateshop Ramps Review

Blackriver released not too long ago a line of sick ramps only available in non internet skateshops, in order to help people support their local skateshops as well as put out something sick. They were nice enough to throw me both the ramps to check out, so here's my review! Pictures?

Shipping was decent, under a week Germany to UK. They came nicely packaged and arrived perfectly as everything from BRR always has for me. 10/10

First impressions
I was mainly surprised at how big they were, I thought they'd be a bit smaller! Not that a slightly longer ramp is a bad thing, infact I was pretty stoked. Then looking at the brick coping.. DAMN. Soo nice. 10/10

Craftsmanship
is perfect. I've reviewed BRR ramps before and I hate to sound like some suck up fanboy but there's not a single imperfection, and each ramp is finished with the same stickers and woodburn stamp you'd expect from BRR. Certainly no complaints from me. 10/10

Performance
of these ramps is great. I'll try to cover both ramps equally, I guess the first and most important part is the coping (or lackthereof). The bricks are really smooth, and whilst I originally thought when I did my initial checkout that these needed wax, that's not the case, you just need to grind them a little bit. After a day or so (so not long) they'll become even smoother than they were, so you can feel like your grinding on concrete but without the powdery dust going all over your grip. It's a nice 'poolcoping' feel too, but not too much so you don't stick up on grinds whilst you're riding them. Also they get smudge marks on them as you use them, which looks ridiculously cool in my books, very 'realistic'. The ramps are perfect heights, the low and high bits of the kink are spot on, with a not too steep bank going from low to high. The curb bank is really fun, it's a long low obstacle, so don't expect to use it like a quarterpipe - but you can pop cheeky miniramp-esque lipslides as well as going for standard tricks, sort of how a harrier rides in a way. The only downside I can find is that if you're into blunts and tail/nose slides, your wheels will get fairly quickly rubbing against the bricks, which could be a problem for people using wheels like Flatface Ts. 9.5/10

Overall
these are fantastic ramps. Not only do they ride amazingly, look great, and come with perfect craftsmanship, but they're supporting a great cause that deserves 100% support. The price might be higher than some BRR ramps, but these bricks are expensive - however for the price you get a coping that's inbetween concrete and metal, in short the best of both worlds, and definitely worth the slight increase in price! They'll make your wheels dirty definitely, but unless you're using delicate wheels that's nothing a few powerslides on a sheet of blank paper wont clean. 9.75/10
