We'd seen sneak peeks of these, and I'd speculated they'd be oak v3s. But, its something bigger, better, and much more amazing than just another V. Meet the oak RVs!
As we'd seen before, they're wider and a bit bigger than previous oaks. But there's a lot more changed than meets the eye! The bearing lock system has been totally reworked, so now the bearing is centered in the wheel and wont move at all, so no more wheels falling off bearings like horror stories from the original oak v1s. The wheels are also symetrical, which is pretty cool. They're almost exactly the same as a skateboard wheel in that respect now, and I think that's really awesome. The level of realism and quality oak wheels have achieved with these new wheels deserves total respect, I'm really itching to try some! However I'm not about to make these my new main wheels, as much as I love the oak material, the size is something I'm a bit gutted about personally. I'm not a big wheel fan, winkler BRR eds are the perfect size for me and these look like winkler big daddy size, which I tried and couldn't get on with at all. Nonetheless, I see me picking up a set of whites in the future just to try them, they look too good to pass up!
HUGE props to Oak for another great step in fingerboarding and the quest to be as close to skateboarding as possible. Definitely go check out the Oak site below and maybe pick up a set whilst you're there :)
