News Catch-Up

Yup, I'm back! I got back 6:30am, then had to go to work. As you can imagine, I'm reaaaalllllyyyy tired. Had a long day, trying to catch up with fingerboarding happenings online, even though its just been a week and a bit, took a hell of a long time! But, I'm glad to be back to the online scene. Not so glad to be back from holiday though, I love Sweden soooo much and had the best time ever, seriously. Nicest holiday I've had there. Chill times, fingerboarding, skateboarding, great weather, great food, time with my girlfriend, and time with my friends. And my girlfriend's family, who are like a second mum + dad to me. Cant go wrong! Footage + LOTS of pictures coming some time this week, hopefully will make a start on it tomorrow.

SO, anyway, tonight will be a very long post, a whole bunch of 'what did I miss?', in other words, my thoughts on the big news things that have popped up over the past week. I'm not going to write as much on each one as I might normally do, but this post is gonna contain a lot of news. So, get ready!

First? Something that popped up almost as soon as I left, and is totally awesome news.

Yup, Lowpro have done what I lot of people these days want, 31mm decks! They look really nice, and from what I've heard of Lowpro, perform equally well. You get the choice of all of their graphics, blank decks, colour decks, engraved decks, either 29 or 31mm wide, and either a mellow shape or a more defined shape. And, as if that wasn't enough, you can choose to have your deck set up with either flatface g6 or g7 wheels, in more than one colour, with trucks that come in more than one colour. Which ends up being more than 1000 possible combinations of setup, all available! I seriously cannot do anything but clap my hands and bow to Lowpro, beyond impressed. One of the most dedicated companies out there, without a doubt. Might have to splash out on a 31mm tiramisu shape hand painted deck for my collection!

Go check out the Lowpro webshop here. Second? Fast Fingers 14!

Notice anything on the bottom? Yup, unitefingerboarding is one of the media partners for Fast Fingers 14! Totally stoked to be a part of it, even if it does just mean I'll be posting all media and stuff that I can find from the event around the time of it. I really wish I could make it myself, but thankfully there is a live stream of the whole event! Guess thats what I'll be doing for the day, haha XD This year I'm sure is gonna be even better than last year, our good friend and graphic designer Thom McInally is going, so maybe we'll have a reporter in the field after all, we'll see! Nonetheless, fast fingers is gonna be amazing, if you can go, DO IT!

Check out the website here. Third? One of the most realistic obstacles I've ever seen.

KL-Wood no longer just make amazing looking decks, now they have blown the collective minds of almost all the online fingerboard scene by making this amazing looking bench! I mean, how ridiculously realistic and sick does it look? I need one. As far as I can see no info on price or where to get one yet, but word is they'll be on Flatface soon. Hopefully with worldwide shipping included, either that or they'll pop up somewhere in the EU so we can all get our hands on one. Amazing stuff!

You can check out the thread about them on FFI (which is now viewable to the public again!) here. Fourth? Toys. Yup, toys.

Indeed, Tech Deck are stepping up their game! This footage from the New York toy fair shows new wooden ramps, including an almost pocket winkler sized completely vert halfpipe, and a pretty basic looking funbox with a round rail in the middle. The halfpipe looks fun, I think I'd like to cut it up and make it into two quarters more than use it as a mini. If its a decent price I might just do that! As you can also see, the wood competition series decks are looking nice! Foam tape + wider (I don't know how wide, but you see one compared to a normal 26mm, so, I'd guess 28mm?) + a nice concave shape with what appears to have higher kicks as well as a nice concave.. Finally something from tech deck that whilst it may not be amazing, a) isn't terrible, and b) will promote proper fingerboarding to people who'd previously only seen tech decks. Great stuff!

Video from Atamaii, you can check their youtube channel here.

And, well, that's my round up. There were more big news things, and lots of other great small news pieces too, but I cant go back on everything. I might cover a few more things tomorrow, but after that I'll just be keeping you up to date with the best and newest fingerboarding news from around the world, and all will be back to normal. Thanks to everyone who's stuck with unite whilst I went on holiday!

Now you've read that, pat yourself on the back and go fingerboard :)
